The #ELEDIAResearchCenter is pleased to share some results of the research project #OWL. The “Opportunistic Wireless Localization” (OWL) research project provides a simple, scalable, and privacy-aware technology for #indoor-localization and #human-activity #monitoring.
While computer-vision approach suffers from privacy concerns and low-light/far-distance conditions, #wireless #sensing technology implicitly overcomes such issues. The ELEDIA OWL system exploits the existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, such as a commodity access point, for processing standard #MIMO #EM signals.
No dedicated hardware or wearable sensors are required.
The proposed #machine #learning methodology has proven to scale up from user #presence #detection and #localization up to #indentification, and #gesture #recognition.
