We are excited to share the successful completion of the #SMARTOUR research project! 🎉
Funded by the Ministero Istruzione, Universita’ e Ricerca under the “#Smart #Cities and Communities and Social Innovation” program, SMARTOUR secured the top position in the #Cultural #Heritage track and received funding exceeding 12 MEu. 💰
The project aimed to develop new #technologies and #services to enhance #visiting and #tourist #experiences in #artistic and #cultural #cities and areas. 🏛️✨
As part of the dedicated #ELEDIA@UniTN team at the Università di Trento, we take pride in our involvement in various #research #activities and the #coordination of WP7. Notably, our efforts resulted in the successful development and deployment of the #WiFi #Localization system. This wireless localization system offers #indoor #visitors‘ #positioning and #tracking capabilities, seamlessly integrated into the SMARTOUR cloud alongside other components such as the tourist itinerary recommender, content management system, and emergency management system. 🌐📡
During the experimental validation phase (WP12), the localization system underwent rigorous testing in dedicated laboratories and in real-world scenarios, including the Museo del Tessuto in Prato, Italy. 🎊🏙️🗺️
