MANICA Luca received the B.Sc. in Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering, the M.Sc. in Information and Communications Engineering, the Ph.D. in Information and Communications Technology from University of Trento in 2004, 2006 and 2010, respectively. In the period 2012-2014 he was a Senior Researcher at the ELEDIA Research Center (ELEDIA@UniTN – University of Trento, Italy), where his research activities considered the analysis and design of radiating systems under manufacturing tolerances and metamaterials.
Successively, for five years (2014-2019) he worked as Staff Engineer in the United Technology Research Center – UTRC where he was involved in the analysis, design and prototyping of communication systems for high-criticality commercial, industrial and avionics applications.
Dr. MANICA is currently employed as Senior Principal Engineer in the Applied Research and Technology – ART Center in Collins Aerospace. His research activities consider the development of unconventional avionics communication and radar systems. He is author or co-author of more than 70 papers published on international journals and conferences, and he submitted 8 patent requests (pending approval). He received the best of track award in “Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance and Information Networks (CNS)” at 41st Digital Avionics System Conference – DASC in 2022. In 2023 he was awarded by the All in for Quality Star Award. This award recognizes Collins Aerospace team members around the world who exemplify the All in for Quality pillars of commitment, trust, and accountability.
