Research Areas

The main objectives of the ELEDIA@AUTH is to develop research activities in the framework of antenna and communications technologies with particular emphasis on antenna design in emerging technologies like 5G, IoT and RFID, optimization techniques in next generation networks, and IoT technologies for every type of applications. Moreover, the ELEDIA@AUTH uses evolutionary algorithms and machine learning techniques for 4G and 5G green network optimization, user association in emerging networks, spectrum allocation in cognitive radio networks, and channel modeling in LTE networks.

In the activity of antenna design in emerging technologies, the ELEDIA@AUTH Research group aims to explore the theoretical methods with the use of simulation techniques and experimental applications towards the development and optimization of smart antenna arrays for the next generation communication systems and networks. The Research group also aims to apply several optimization algorithms and evolutionary techniques in order to design optimal transceivers and access networks for the NGN. Massive MIMO communications are also part of current ELEDIA@AUTH research topics.

Finally, the Research group aims at exploiting state-of-the-art technologies in the field of the Internet of Things to promote rational use of water resources in agriculture.

The skills of ELEDIA@AUTH members on the development of smart antenna arrays, of evolutionary algorithms in modern telecommunication problems, and on the development and design of state-of-the-art applications in precision agriculture give the opportunity to develop innovative solutions for the next generation communication systems and the Internet of Things.
