More in detail, the synthesis of the beamforming network (BFN) is recast within a total‐variation (TV) formulation aimed at minimizing the discrete gradient of the array excitation weights. A set of representative results is reported to verify the effectiveness of the proposed TV‐CS methodology when dealing with the design of linear arrays with non‐contiguous clusters.
