The problem is addressed by means of an innovative Material-by-Design (MbD) approach based on the quasi-conformal transformation optics (QCTO) technique and a customized source inversion (SI) strategy. The synthesized architectures are composed by a metamaterial lens and a tapered version of the original feeding network, able to match the radiation characteristics of significantly larger apertures. Some preliminary results are reported in order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed MbD approach. %I ELEDIA Research Center - University of Trento %A M. Salucci %A G. Oliveri %A N.
